President Donald Trump said Friday that Iran has received a U.S. proposal concerning its fast-advancing nuclear program and warned Tehran to act swiftly or face consequences. “They have a proposal. More importantly, they know they have to move quickly or something bad’s going to happen,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One after leaving the United Arab Emirates, the final stop on his Middle East trip.

Trump offered no details about the proposal, and Iran has not publicly acknowledged receiving it. In an interview with Fox News conducted earlier in Abu Dhabi, Trump said Iran is eager to trade with the United States. “I’m using trade to settle scores and to make peace,” he said. The president added that if Iran agrees to a deal, “you’re going to be very happy.” Trump has made a new nuclear agreement with Iran a priority during his second term.
