Trump Heads To Capitol Hill To Seal His ‘Big, Beautiful Bill’

U.S. President Donald Trump

President Donald Trump is heading to Capitol Hill Tuesday to rally House Republicans behind his signature domestic policy proposal, the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act." The multitrillion-dollar package includes permanent tax cuts, boosted child tax credits, and slashes to Medicaid, food assistance, and green energy programs.

But divisions within the GOP threaten its passage, with conservatives demanding steeper cuts and accelerated work requirements for Medicaid, while moderates seek expanded tax relief for high-tax states.

Trump has urged Republicans to “stop talking, and get it done,” as Speaker Mike Johnson pushes for a vote by Wednesday. The bill could add $3.3 trillion to the national debt over the next decade, according to the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget.

Democrats oppose the plan, calling it a handout to the wealthy. A 1 a.m. committee hearing Tuesday underscores the urgency and tension surrounding the bill’s fate. If passed, the legislation heads to the Senate for revisions.
