President Donald Trump said he spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin for over an hour to discuss Ukraine’s drone strikes inside Russia and the Iranian nuclear issue.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said Putin emphasized that Russia “will have to respond” to the Ukrainian attacks on airbases, referring to “Operation Spiderweb,” a recent Ukrainian operation targeting multiple Russian airfields using drones and explosives.
Trump noted that while the conversation was constructive, it would not result in “immediate peace.”
Trump also said the two leaders discussed Iran’s nuclear ambitions. According to Trump, Putin expressed willingness to engage in discussions with Iran and may help expedite negotiations toward a new nuclear agreement.
