President Donald Trump on Friday accused former FBI Director James Comey of inciting violence against the president in a now-deleted Instagram post.
Comey shared a photo of seashells arranged to spell “8647” — interpreted by Trump allies as code for “kill 47,” with Trump being the 47th president. The post, captioned “cool shell formation on my beach walk,” was later deleted.
“He knew exactly what that meant. A child would know,” Trump told Fox News. “He’s calling for the assassination of the president.”

Comey later said he hadn’t realized the numbers could be interpreted violently and took the post down once it was pointed out.
Gabbard echoed Trump’s view, telling Fox News, “He essentially issued a call to assassinate [the president]” and said she believes Comey belongs in jail.
Trump said any legal action would be up to Attorney General Pam Bondi.
